Hello felllow rock huggers, hope all is well. We are going to Peak Charles in the October School Holidays and would like to invite anyone who wants to join in. You will need to be self contained, we will have a few seats available for transport but accomodation is up to you. As there is no facilities this means bring everything including the kitchen sink. There is no water, no electricity(except for my generator, costs 2 beers a day to hire), no shops, no showers, no luxuries, no traffic, no hassles but plenty of climbing.

Even if you dont have a partner but have some gear I have a leader with no gear that will happily share the routes with you. Even if you dont climb but enjoy the bush come along as we have a Grandad who can bushwalk with you. There is 5 so far with ages from 15 to 75. I will post some more details in a few weeks but please feel free to ask any questions in the meantime.

If anyone has any information that would be handy, ie road conditions, camping conditions, good climbs etc, please share with us.

    Cheers,

    Laurie Ridgwell

Hi, I live in Salmon Gums. It has been very dry this year & hot. We had 3 32deg days in a row last week. Bring plenty of water. Lots of wildflowers this year, very beautiful, and there are already plenty of snakes about. Some of the Lake King – Norseman Road was graded recently, but I do not know about the middle section. You can travel to Salmon Gums from Lake King (go straight ahead (do not turn right to Ravensthorpe) and then turn right onto Cascade Road and left onto Rollonds Road to come out onto the Coolgardie-Esperance Highway 20Km South of Salmon Gums. Gravel Roads recently graded – 2WD OK. Look out for wildlife at dusk & dawn but a beautiful drive & will save you hours off the trip.)

Local State Emergency Service Cliff Rescue team based in Salmon Gums contact Bevan Bailye 0427 946 485. Local Emergency Responder/Ambulance Service contact Salmon Gums Roadhouse 08 90785053 or dial 000 for both.

What dates will you be there? I’m going to Kal at the start of the holidays and might be able to swing a few extra days for climbing. =)

Kylie, thanks so much for your current info, one of the guys who wants to come is over in N Zealand at the moment in the snow so he will be happy to thaw out at Peak Charles.

If you want to join us please feel free, just let me know,

    Laurie.
