We don’t have fixed draws in WA yet. The reported accident emphasises how easily ropes cut. When hanging or abseiling check edges. If sharp use a rock to smooth them off.

I think what you mean here is, if the edge is sharp, put something under the rope to protect it from rubbing on the sharp edge!
HammondGuestIt’s fairly easy to blunt a sharp edge by rubbing it with a lose piece of rock. As long as the lose piece is the same type or harder. Never necessary on natural crags, shattered rock in quarrys can have razor sharp edges. There might be a chipping concern, but when it’s you on the rope scruples can be less worrying.
