    Hi All,

There is a CAWA trip to the Stirling Ranges over the Queen’s Birthday long weekend Fri 24 – Mon 27 September. We will pitch tents at the Stirling Range Retreat Caravan Park http://www.stirlingrange.com.au Chester Pass road (beware of kangaroos if driving in at night). Most people should arrive on Friday night.

There is a group site booked (White Gums Flats), please do not camp elsewhere as this makes co-ordination difficult.

This is how to get to the group camp site. Drive into the place keeping straight: you will first pass the Office on your right, then you will pass the showers and communal kitchen on your right. At this point turn left and drive for 100 metres. There are some small trees and small sites dispersed among them, that’s us. It is very quiet. Look for a white Nissan Xtrail which will be mine, I will be there from Friday around 3pm until Monday. Cost is $13 per person per night and you pay the caravan park the morning after you arrive.

We will probably split into groups based on ability with me leading the more experienced climbers who can do trad multipitch and Ashley List looking after the people who are not able to lead. Using this place as a base, we will go to different places on different days as weather allows. If you want to go with me, be ready to leave at 8am on Saturday.

Climbing options include Bluff Knoll, Mount Trio, the Porongurups (Castle and Gibraltar Rocks) and Barnett Peak. Some of the downloadable guidebooks are below.

Bring all the climbing gear you have, plus helmets, long trousers and raingear.

Please text me 0422 927962 or email me on rossw@climberswa.asn.au to register. If you do not register and the trip is cancelled for whatever reason (not enough people or bad weather), I will not be able to notify you. Thanks.

I have only had two people register so far, so please be advised that unless there are quite a few more registrations this trip will be cancelled. I have a guidebook to finish, a crag to finish bolting, and plenty of other things going on, so if you intend to go, I need to know by 5pm Wednesday (tomorrow). Thanks.

    Hi,

Just to let you know that there will be 2 of us heading down on Friday the 26th of November and coming back on Sunday the 28th

    .

We will be climbing in the Porongurups (Gibraltar Rock) on Saturday. All of this is dependent on the weather gods granting us some fine weather.

Suitably experienced and equipped climbing pairs are welcome to join us.

    Thanks

Who goes to the Porongurups these days ?

And what routes do you climb ?

Just wondering as I wrote the guide….. and there have been a fair bit of secret squirrel goings on there over the last few years…. and I would like to know what stuff is getting climbed….if any.

    Hi Neil,

Can you give me a call so we can arrange a time to talk? I was out with a friend on the W/E on Marmabup Rock. It was a great day doing a multi-pitch climb on a big slab. We are not sure if we found the climbs in your guide or made our own up.

    Thanks

    Mark.K
