    Howdy Folks,

I left my #0 TCU in the base of Lost Arrow on Saturday :-(.. Its jammed up to the webbing in a crack at ground level, The crack is only just as wide as the trigger, I tried for about half an hour to get it out but couldnt.. Does anyone have an handy hints to not loose anymore of these ?? I was thinking of running a loop of 4mm cord through the trigger so I could at least hook my nut tool on it and it wouldnt burry itself quite so deep. There is also an old cam (looks like a friend) about 2 meters up as well, there’s no webbing on it and looks like its had a beating..

Well if anyone gets my TCU out they are welcome to it according to the unwritten climbing law.. But I’d happily accept it back in return for beverages.

    Cheers

To get out stuck camminf devices, you need to close the cam lobes beyond the range that can be accomplished by pulling on the cam trigger. This is done using a nut tool: (1)put the pointy bit of the nut tool directly onto one of the cams, slide it shut, then pivot the cam out a bit (2) then do it with the other cams (3) repeat until out. It is extremely rare that a stuck cam truly cannot be removed, it never happended in churchams in 30 years people have been climbing there. I have removed mabe 30 “permanently stuck” cams in my life, most of them in under 5 minutes; so don’t give up.

the higher up one is a #1 HB flexi, it is /was mine but left there by a friend who couldn’t get it, I have not been out to have a go at it yet. I agree though, no cam is ever truly lost

Thanks Deadbolt for the hints, I suppose with a long thin screwdriver I could have done as you suggested, It is such a thin crack and now the cam is right in up to the webbing,

Shannon, I think using the technique Deadbolt describes you could get your cam out, Another way I heard of was to wrap a sling around the triggers, make a loop and try using your feet/legs to pull it out, If its still there when I go back I’ll have a go at it, If I get it out I’ll give it back to you, I know what its like to lose gear and lets face it none of it is cheap..

    Cheers
