Went to Bridle Rock yesterday and would like to update the info on the site about how to get there.

    Change:

“Cross the low white gate at the SW side of the clearing and follow the track.”

    Change to:

“Cross the low brown gate at the SW side of the clearing. After the gate there is a gravel road and a track, the road veers left and the track enters on the right. Take the road.”

    Change:

“After about 5 minutes the track passes under power lines and a side track enters on the L.”

    Change to:

“After about 5 minutes (400m) the track passes under a small set of power lines and a side track enters on the L.”

    Change:

“Continue directly on for about 10 more minutes until Bridle Rock can be seen 50m R of the track.”

    Change to:

“Continue directly on for about 10 more minutes (800m) until Bridle Rock can be seen 50m R of the track. The road will become rocky and go uphill at this stage.”

    Change:

“This boulder is distinguished by its orange-coloured base.”

    Chaneg to:

“This boulder is distinguished by its orange-coloured base. It has two rocky outcrops on either side of it.”

    Thanks, and happy climbing 🙂

    “Feedback

We want your feedback. What should CAWA be doing for climbers in WA? How can we improve this website? …or just say hello and tell us who you are!”

Description of the forum topic suggested to me that I would be helping the CAWA website with an update of information. I guess I was wrong as I have not received a response nor have my suggested changes been included in the access info.

    is anyone there???

    Hi Martin

Yes someone is there. Others do notice your contribution and appreciate your input. Generally, info on climbs end up in the Climbing Talk, Bolting, and First Ascents sections. The Feedback section tends to be underused.

    Thanks for the updated description.

Forgot to add that CAWA are working towards a new edition of the Perth climbing guide and are happy for contributions – check the Home page. You can submit your info direct : )

    Thanks for your comments Martin.

Unfortunately, the CAWA committee (all who are volunteers) spend so much time in meetings with DEC, DSR, and other government agencies defending the rights of climbers to climb in WA, that they often do not have very much time left to do things like update the webpage or climbing guides. However these things are slowly happening.

Martin, I’ve updated the webpage, but unfortunatly your comments aren’t always that clear – you say “Take the road.” but then start referring to the track a few times before referring again to the road.

So is one to take the track or the road? Have a look at the webpage…

Apologies for the confusion. Please find the corrected text below:

“To get there, head east on Helena Valley Road until the end of bitumen. Continue along the gravel road for 500 metres, turn R at the fork and park in the clearing 20m further on. Cross the low brown gate at the SW side of the clearing. After the gate there is a gravel road and a track. The road veers left and the track enters on the right. Take the road. After about 5 minutes (400 metres) the road passes under a small set of power lines and a side track enters on the L. Continue directly on for about 10 more minutes (800 metres) until Bridle Rock can be seen 50 m right of the road. The road will become rocky and go uphill at this point. This boulder is distinguished by its orange-coloured base and has two rocky outcrops on either side of it.”
