Hi Peter. It was talked about last year. Let’s raise it with the Committee to see what they are planning ? Sounds like it could be fun ๐
TonyMemberImportant feedback and thanks Krish. CAWA promotes environmental awareness and sustainable practices. See https://www.climberswa.asn.au/cawa/ethics/.
Significantly the first two items under the CAWA Code of Conduct, Environment are, E.1 Climbers are to show care for the natural environment surrounding crags and access paths and avoid wilful damage, and E.2 All rubbish is to be removed from climbing areas, regardless of who brought it.
This includes for cleaning up after route setting to minimise impact to the environment and to remove risk of injury. This is important anywhere where bolting occurs. Please help keep our environment in good shape and take out your trash ๐TonyMemberEric happy to post them on CAWA FB page if you want. You will have to get tickets to me in the CBD (Woodside bldg – 240 St Georges Terrace) before cob tomorrow – Thursday 31st. If I can sell them or CAWA can use them I can reimburse. Post back if thats what you want.
TonyMemberI have an old 50mt 10mm climbing rope. Has been retired from climbing and is available to you for the kindy at no cost ๐
You may need to have it cut and the ends sealed to the lengths you require.
Pls email me on cawa@climberswa.asn.au and I will make arrangements for collection.

See you there !
TonyMemberWere you there when Arren used to play Christmas Carols ??? Not a Christmas …
TonyMemberA couple of us are heading to Stathams for a 6am start and an 8am finish….
TonyMemberHi Joseph.
We were a bit starved of climbing competitions last year (2011). Both Rockface and The Hangout did run their own comps during the year which were well attended.
This year is going to be a different story.
CAWA is working to host a series of climbing competitions this year. If you attend the CAWA AGM this coming Feb 15, all will be revealed !!!!!!
We are working up the details now and will let everyone know at The AGM…
Follow the link on the home page to CAWA AGM which will take you to the Agenda, and you will know more..

TonyMemberThierry – Keep looking at the CAWA web page Forum for ongoing threads re Climbing partners. Also look on the Events page as we have a Gym Crash’s (Indoor in Perth) and Climbing Trips (Outdoor in Western Australia) throuought the year.
TonyMemberThanks Krish for a great mini-guide. Have some of the routes been recently re-bolted ? We were there in Nov/Dec last year and there was talk of re-bolting where it was obvious some of the original bolts had been removed ? Can you advise which routes were re-bolted ?
Thanks.
TonyMemberHave a look for the guide books here https://www.climberswa.asn.au/climb/guidebooks/. And look at the online guides for Western Australia here https://www.climberswa.asn.au/climb/online-guide/.
Best spots for climbing in Perth are Stathams Quarry and Mountain Quarry, Churchmans Brook, Wungong Valley, Darlington Boulders and Avon Valley. Further afield down south is Willyabrup off Margaret River and then there is the West Cape Howe, Albany and Porongurup’s region. Up north is Kalbarri.
CAWA runs a number of events and you can see what’s on on this website, how you can join up with other climbers etc.
Western Australian sport routes use bolt plates in many cases along with ring bolts, so you may need to invest in +/- 8 bolt plates in addition to your own gear. Summer here from December onwards is hot and outdoor climbing is usually best in the early morning or somewehere in the shade late afternoon.
Go onto the forum when you arrive to find a climbing partner or drop us a line at cawa@climberswa.asn.au
