Cyclone warning and quarry closure 29 Jan 2011

Due to the cyclone that may hit the South-West between Perth and Bunbury sometime in the next 48 hours, DEC has stated that all recreation and camping sites in national parks, State forests, regional parks and other areas managed by the Department of Environment and Conservation south-west of a line between Jurien and Bremer Bay will be closed from 9am 29 January 2011.  This includes Mountain and Stathams quarries, as well as Wilyabrup and Churchmans Brook.  There will be signs to this effect on the gates at the quarries and at other locations. Please do not disregard them, the temporary closure is for your own safety.

  1. Good grief, how is that for paranoia? (1) Mountain Quarry is 50km from the coast and possiblty the most wind-protected place in Perth. (2) None of the forecasts ever showed any problems for Saturday. So there will be some strong winds in Perth on Sunday night, no more severe than an average winter storm. Big deal. Well done DEC for one-size-fits-all.
