From Indoors to the Great Outdoors: Master the Essentials of Outdoor Climbing
Are you a seasoned indoor lead climber ready to take your skills outdoors? Our Transition to Outdoor Climbing workshop is the perfect opportunity to bridge the gap between the gym and the crag. This workshop is exclusively for CAWA members who are proficient in lead climbing indoors and are looking to confidently make the transition to outdoor climbing.
This comprehensive workshop covers crucial topics to ensure a safe and successful transition to outdoor climbing. You’ll learn about weather assessment, route finding, and the various types of bolts and anchors you’ll encounter outside. We’ll also delve into the specifics of gear selection, effective communication techniques, and safety protocols tailored to the outdoor environment. The afternoon session provides hands-on experience on the wall, where you’ll practice safe belaying/climbing, cleaning anchors, and dealing with potential challenges unique to outdoor climbing.
By the end of this workshop, you’ll have the knowledge and practical experience needed to approach outdoor climbing with confidence. Don’t miss this chance to expand your climbing horizons and explore the great outdoors under expert guidance.
