Bobs Hollow and Surrounds Climbing Trip

Bob’s hollow is a sports crag with steep to overhung limestone, mostly solid stalactites and stalagmites 100m from the Indian Ocean. It offers spectacular views and probably the best limestone climbing currently available in WA.

The crag is in the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park, located around 300km south of Perth. Bob’s Hollow is regarded as one of the best sport climbing crags in the state, and it offers a variety of moderate to hard routes on quality rock.

As we will be staying in the Margaret River region, for those who want to trad climb, there is also the opportunity to explore some of the other nearby crags, including Wilyabrup and Cozy Corner.

Wilyabrup offers amazing views, a great atmosphere and exposure on some superb sea cliffs. It offers a range of mostly trad routes. Cozy Corner is a smaller crag on the ocean offering a range of easy to moderate trad climbs and a selection of boulders for those with mats.

We will be camping at the Hamelin Loop at Contos, a large and well-appointed campground nestled within shady peppermint woodland. Find out more about the campground and what facilities are available here.

This trip is suited to climbers of all levels who are comfortable leading outdoor routes.

All climbers on the trip must be independent participants who are completely responsible for themselves. Following our Public Liability insurance requirements, everyone will need to sign a Deed of Release and Indemnity and fill in a registration form which will be sent out upon committing for the trip and paying for your accommodation.

Any inexperienced climbers must nominate an experienced climber who will climb with them during the trip. All climbing participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or another responsible person. If you are a beginner, it might pay to read CAWA Trips for some further information or e-mail me.

Please note that CAWA trips are a benefit for members. Non-members interested in coming with you will need to join online and follow up the registration for the trip beforehand. The trip will go ahead regardless of the weather.
