I’m not sure what the etiquette is, but I want to avoid upsetting fellow climbers.
On the Saturday 20/09/08, I’ll be climbing at Mt Cuthbert with a large group of friends. What started as a small group has snowballed into about 15 of us planning to spend the day there as part of a Bib-track walk.
I’m not trying to hog the site, we are quite happy to share. I just recall a trip I made a while ago where there were only 2 of us out there at 9am but 15 by noon and nobody got much climbing done after that. If I’d known a big group was coming, I would’ve gone somewhere else. My mate and I really wanted to spend a while toproping some of the tougher climbs but felt that we had to move along since others wanted to lead Quiver.
So the bottom line is: if you want to climb Cuthbert on Sat 20 Sept, then expect to share with a big group. There will be no cars parked on the highway and no footprints pointing uphill but we will be there nonetheless (we will have walked along the bib track from the north).
Cheers
