Can anyone tell me the access codes for Mountain and Stathams Quarries please?

I was at mountain quarry last night without a booking of course and found that the old code of 6363 no longer works. I assume they have changed the Stathams code (7575) too.

I refuse to make a booking as I think that is ridiculous for recreational users.

The walk in is fine but leaving car behind is not a good idea.

      Thanks,

      B

        Well, carry your car, it’s a good warm up . . . .

          Hi Brett,

Think of it as not asking for a booking but as a reqest for the access code as you are a legitimate user who doesn’t want their car broken into thief type low-life or burned because some fire bug type low-life has decided that your day in the quarry is the day for setting the bush on fire. I am assuming those sorts of people won’t be asking for the access code.

CAWA is still waiting for DEC to revisit this internally and get back to us before we try to work out how to proceed.

          Cheers,

          Toc.

As a Boya resident, if ya can’t get the gate open, I’d suggest parking at the corner of Approach & Hudman Roads, next to Boya (aka Hudman) quarry entrance – it’s 100m across the road from Mountain quarry carpark & much safer, as there are houses nearby.

              cheers

Lets just find out the code and post it on the site for all to use that way everyone shares

Here are the codes for the quarrys. Please use wisely and lock after you leave.

If CAWA chooses to remove the post from the forum so be it. I believe climbers should have access to the quarries so I am just trying to help people out.

Everyone knew the old ones, so really there is no difference. It only took DEC over a year to change them finally.

Civil disobedience has worked in other areas, India for instance when seeking independence from Britain, (though there were deaths), but in China in Tianimin Square people got run over by tanks, with no obvious short term benefits.

In an ideal world, the codes might be posted on the CAWA website, but if it was just a simple matter of ringing DEC and asking for them there wouldn’t be a problem and they could politely tell the enquiring climber that there was going to be a quarry full of abseilers and 10 climbers had already rang for the code at which point some peole would head off to Churchman’s, (well maybe). I think it’s the booking and the possibility of refusal that gets up our noses.

                              We’ll keep working on it.

                              Cheers all.

By the way, the CAWA website exists because CAWA exists, and CAWA can only talk to DEC because it is an organisation. Organisations need people.

You need CAWA, CAWA needs you in order to be what you need. Hope that makes sense to all.

…but the issue at hand is not whether i can drive into the quarry but if i can USE the quarry. if i dont book, i walk in and climb, im still doing the wrong thing according to these rules. yes, the codes make it easier but they are not the real issue.

my money is on the fact that DEC is really just trying to avoid liability. ie. if you book and sign the waiver then theyre covered, if you dont book and have an accident and (theoretically) try to sue them, they can say “well they werent authorised to be there”

seriously, do you really think they will have the resources to police this? business as usual AFAIC – oh and thanks for the codes
