Does any one here know of a Perth/South West company capable of producing something like those made by the NZ starholds (http://www.starholds.co.nz/pages/wallset.html)

I might try for one as apart of a public art/recreation development project here in Albany

have you seen the artificial boulders in the ‘african’ part of perth zoo, they are excellent and could developed into good climbing structures. I dont know who made them but it’s worth checking out,

PS I have often thought it would be great to have some boulders in Kings Park

Mark Street, the Manager Facilities & Environmental Services for Perth Zoo, has used Craig Tully from Realistic Rock. The are based in Perth and have a web site, http://www.realisticrock.com.au. I have an emailed them about the viability of using thier rocks for climbing boulders. I will post the follow up.

The City of Albany seems keen on the idea. It fits in with a recreational development plan.

I am keen hear any ideas people may have on this. Please post them here for all to share or email me at michaelw@albany.wa.gov.au.

The structures at perth zoo look really good, though i got the impression that the concrete was only a thin layer over a chicken wire frame. That was the case at the place that i worked at anyway.

Ive Worked with realistic rock and i can assure you its not just a layer of concreet its filled from top to bottom, so its pretty heavy stuff.

Craig and Peter who useally do the projects together have experiance in this profesion for about 6 to 8 years and know what they are doing.

They make certain that their work is done profesionally and quality. So that they can assure these structures will last a long time.
