Do you live and climb in Australia, indoors or outdoors?

We need your help to fill out a survey looking at participation and injury rates in all aspects of rock climbing.

It won’t take more than five minutes of your time. Please complete it even if you have never been injured, and feel free to forward the link.

We are a group of doctors based in NSW and are conducting research in this area. The survey is focused on acute (traumatic) injuries that led to the need to engage emergency services and/ or health care workers, but even if you have never been injured can you please complete the survey. Injuries from ice climbing or mountaineering aren’t covered, though alpine rock climbing is.

As an incentive, all respondents can elect to go into a draw for climbing prizes. All responses are strictly confidential and de-identified. The survey will be open for 4 weeks.

COMPLETE THE AUSTRALIAN ROCK CLIMBING INJURY SURVEY 2015.

We appreciate your contribution and we hope it will help us to gain some insights into what is an increasingly popular recreation, and the patterns and nature of injury associated this sport.

Results will be published in Vertical Life for the interest of climbers, as well as used for scientific medical presentations and publications.

Prizes are donated by Pulse climbing gym, Newcastle, and Climbing Anchors.

Just 8 days to go in the Australian rock climbing injury survey. The response has been great with over 1500 participants. We hope the analysis of this study will help define patterns of injury in The Australian setting and we will feedback the results to the climbing community. If you haven’t done the survey yet, please click the link. You don’t have to have been injured to participate.
