One of Perths rare pieces of steep granite saw a FA today. The problem starts off the begining hold of Shambala and moves left through the roof using bag of tricks to get you into the crux moves of Bala. One of the best problems this side of Ayers rock, tricky one to grade because of the low percentage crux move.

Awesome! I assume this is Andy from Crankdown (R.I.P.). If it is, did you ever give names and grades to the two problems in the walyunga video (not the video with Bee Wasp and Tall Arete (which was V4 right?)? One was near the Tall Arete (just a little bit up) and the other was further down the hill.

Either way- great job with Bala sit!

Hey Mike, those problems were never named or graded, its been a long time since i’ve been on them, but from memory probably the first problem in the vid is v7-8 and the second v8-9.

sorry to be vague with grades but its been awhile.

Thanks for the info Andy. I feel a bit better now since I tried that V7-8 one a few times (you made it look easy) not realizing the grade… And that lower one (“The Answer comes quick”) looked easier than the first one near the Tall Arete!

Hi andy, the crankdown site was great for topos, is there any chance you could reupload those pdfs to a filesharing site?, it would be a shame to loose those topos and i didnt have them saved, im more than happy to host them from my webspace, for all to download.

Christian, we have started to rearrange mini-guides on the website to increase the emphasis on bouldering: http://www.climberswa.asn.au/climb/mini-guides/

We first need to unravel some access restrictions related to Millers before I can publish that guide.
