Does anyone know who sews loops on cams? I am after an extension that can be shortened or lenghthened from approx 150mm to 300mm due to the way it is sewn on. Ive been told to be cautious of the method especially if using spectra as it can can melt easily. There seems to be a potential to create friction although I dont know how.If anyone has information on the subject please reply.

        Hi Laurie

In the back of Rock Magazine there’s a directory of people who repair gear. Some of them might know.

How about getting a 30 cm spectra loop and just threading it through the cam eye? Then you clip the two ends with a carabiner and have a 15cm sling, or you can cinch it (thread sling through itself) and have a 30cm loop. Yes this weakens the loop but most cams are rated to 14kN anyway.

Hi Laurie, A couple of years ago Perth’s very own Vertical would do this for you. They required you to send in the gear via a retail outlet (store/gym) and do not deal direct with the public. Give it a try and let me know if you’re still having problems. Cheers.

spectra on a cam looped can be very dangerous due to the heat it can generate while it rubs over it self (during a fall)i recommend that you buy a few extra draws not only can you now extend your cams you have a few spare draws
