For all budding photographers out there I’ve set up a WA climbing group at flickr…

      http://www.flickr.com/groups/climbwa/

The idea being to let the rest of the world know that there is lots of quality rock to be climbed out here.

Some of the other climbing groups seem a bit cluttered so I though I’d request not to have a sequence of shots of one asecnt in the pool but the best pics. You can always place a comment and those interested would then be able to view your whole stream.

To post you’d need to sign up for a flickr account, but this is free (although there is a limit of 20Mb uploads per month, this goes up to 2Gb with unlimited storage if you sign up for a pro account, I’m trying to sell this and certainly am not getting any comission)

Photo’s of the Quarry and Churchman’s are unlikely to attract climbers to WA. :o) Great initiative though…

Everything has to have a begining 🙂

Having only been in Perth for three months I’ve not had the time to explore as far afield as others. Pinjara, Stratham’s, Churchman’s and Darlington to date (roo and I made it out there yesterday), but there must be some of you out there with pics from further afield with what Anon would consider aesthetically pleasing shots of climbing in WA.

Some of the pics in the bouldering mini-guides are pretty good.

(BTW the original post should have read I’m _not_ trying to sell flickr and am not recieving any commission, sorry about the typos).

I think this is a great initiative. I’ve been putting my photos on thecrag.com and have noticed there is a serious lack of WA climbing photos. I’ll start putting mine up on your flickr gallery soon.

I saw your shot of the slot machine and having wanted to climb it was wondering what pro you used to make sure my rack can cope. Also is there DBB’s on the top and if not how do you come back down without giving up gear, is it a walk off, etc??

                    Cheers

I went to the top of Slot Machine to build a belay, There’s nothing up there.. there is a boulder and a couple of cracks that you could get gear in but its a bit dodgy up there and you have to keep ducking under a big branch. You can sort of scramble down the back and the right side. Oh and take a can of mortein for the resident spider… 🙂

Ben if you wish to lead the slot machine you will need fairly small wires mainly,a set of rp’s would probably come in handy if my memory serves me correctly. It possibly takes a very small cam,its been a while.
