After a few years of bouldering in the bush with friends I have finally decided to spend some money and start climbing.

I’m trying to decide which gym (Hangout or Rockface) is better for a new climber like me. I’ll probably buy a year membership when I decide.

Do most climbers buy a membership for one gym or just pay entry each week?

Do either of them ever get full?

The Hangout seems to have a lot more top rope overhangs which are fun, whilst the Rockface has smaller holds which are challenging. Do experienced climbers have any opinion on this?

Any other advice for a new climber will be welcome.

      Cheers

I guess another thing to ask is do which gym changes the climbs more often?

          ASH,

Go to both and enjoy the best that each gym can offer. Both have good points and bad points. Don’t be boring!

I climb down at the Rockface simply because its closer to where I live. Good vibe, friendly people 🙂

              Hi Ash,

I find overhang a good one ecspecially if you want a quiet one. I’m also looking out for a regular climbing partner. If interested, contact me:

                Hi Cilla,

I posted this a while ago and have since become a member at the Hangout in Bayswater. I’m with some friends most weekdays from 6-10pm (ish). If you want to join us you’d be welcome.

Hi Ash,thanks for the invite. But, I have been to all 3 gyms, out of which I like Rockface the best. Looks neat, and well structured. Lots of bouldering walls. I will be going there from now on on Sundays.

                  Cheers
