Wasn’t the CALM deal with the comp at Millar’s that we weren’t allowed to go out there again? Has that situation changed?

Should CAWA be posting this guide on their website if they agreed with CALM that climbers/boulderers are not to enter this area in future? Wouldn’t it be seen by CALM as though CAWA had broken its agreement? That could be bad for future negotiations….

CAWA hasn’t posted it yet. CAWA has also in the past not posted guides where CALM has asked us to stay off rock for environmental reasons.

There’s no guide for Sugarloaf Rock either.

    Free discussion folks.

As far as i know (Edd or Kate may elaborate), CALM has no problem us climbing out there, its just how one gets to the carpark that is the issue.

The bib track goes within spitting distance of millars, so walking in is one option. perhaps we can convince CALM and climbers to adopt dieback prevention strategies (like driving through bleach solution) if they are going to drive out there.

got no problem if CAWA sees publishing the guides as a conflict of interest, but that is why after all they are put up as unofficial guides.

Is there a way to initiate a no driving policy to this area? That only walk in access is allowed? I guess CALM has probably already gated the area anyway?

So, considering the Bib is close by, are we allowed to go to Millars or is the site itself off limits?

    Hi guys,

Emil is actually right. the conditions of the comp were no one to climb in the area due to the access issue of cars. CLAM stated that if you get there from the main road by foot or bike you can climb. This of course might of changed since the transition period to national park has strated and the whole no climbing on CALM land thing that I, due to blissfully climbing elswhere, am not up tto date on.

Summarised walk in you can climb wsa the condition of using the area which is why we needed permits.

Right thats all hope it helps

    Have fun all

    Edd

PS can you mail me a copy of the guide emil ? just for sentimental value really…… ta

We have no problem publishing the guide. It isn’t our job to regulate for DEC but we do need to abide by agreements made and respect the environment irrespective of any DEC rules.
