The next long weekend is coming up and climbing is planned in the Murchison George near Kalbarri. The long weekend is Saturday 31 May to 02 June 2008, although some people will be going up on the Friday (30 May). If the weather is crap, then we’ll be hiking or something like that.

A booking has been made at the Tudor Village Caravan Park (1800 681 077, 10 Porter St, Kalbarri) for unpowered tent sites. These are $24 per night for two people. As of today (08/05/08) there are also a few cabins available and these are $195 or $255 (en-suite) for the weekend.

If you want to reserve your spot, please email [email protected] and let us know that you want a site and I’ll reserve a spot for you OR contact the caravan park directly (AND TELL THEN YOU ARE WITH THE CLIMBING ASSOCIATION) AND also email CAWA to let us know that you’ll be there.

Also if you need a lift or can give someone a lift, please let us know so we can coordinate transport. There has also been some discussion about hiring a bus, so if you are interested, please let us know.

              Hi Everyone,

              For those who don’t know….

I booked and paid a deposit for tent sites at the Tudor Caravan Park for 12 people, plus one cabin.

On Saturday, I emailed the Tudor to confirm that I would be up at about 6 pm but that most other people would be along later.

They responded by saying that they wanted payment in FULL by today (Monday 26 May) and people arriving after 7.30 pm would not be allowed in and would be evicted if they try and set up a tent.

I was going to phone the other caravan parks in Kalbarri, but Ross beat me to it after seeing my last email to people that I knew were going.

              Just to reiterate Ross’ email:

He has phoned Steve at the Kalbarri Anchorage Holiday Village & Caravan Park, 11 Anchorage Ln, Kalbarri, WA 6536, 9937 1181, Fax 9937 1806ý, 0427 371 181 and booked FOUR tent sites.

Steve said that there is enough room for at least 6 tents and more if needed.

There is no problem with late arrivals (as long as people are quiet) – just pop into the office in the morning. No deposit required. Also Steve will fax a map of the park to Ross, marking out where we are to camp.

Ross suggested that we take the Tudor episode as a learning experience and if people have paid any deposit and Tudor refuse to refund it, then he will move a motion at the next CAWA committee meeting that the people be re-imbursed from CAWA funds.

I suggest that Ross phone Steve back and say that there will be 14 – 16 people and we may need additional room.

Some people still need a lift, so if anyone has any space available, please let me know.

              Phillip

I have stayed at Anchorage a few times and always had a good time, also they have a decent camp kitchen there if anyone needs it.

UPDATE: We now have 6 campsites: sites #3-8 along fence R of entrance when entering from Grey St (river side). Pls REGISTER & pay in full either on Fri or on Sat morning, office opens 8am Sat. Cost is $12 per person per night, this is cheaper than normal as we are a group (mention my name). I’ll be easy to find – in the biggest tent! There is fish/chips and bottle store 50m away. Thanks. Seeya. R
