Someone else said it here and I think it’s probably one of the most valid points so far. This forum post has been put everywhere but the one place it should’ve gone; the Feedback Forum. Shane, you’re enthusiasm is a credit but rather than jumping straight in, it would’ve been more productive to post an enquiry and get feedback from the community. I think that’s probably the biggest gripe everyone has; you spammed your view upon the community without giving everyone a chance to have their say.

However, I do agree with Shane and his side that there needs to be a new forum (or a serious overhaul). I mean, we can’t do anything here but post. For example, there’s no registration which is usually the quickest way to avoid true spam. And there are a plethora of other features that any forum platform provides standard nowadays. I do think CAWA needs to address the current website and bring it out of the dark ages.

I think Di and that side have hit the proverbial nail by saying that WA only needs one forum. We’re not big enough to require more.

If this is the website the world comes to and is thus the gateway to WA climbing, shouldn’t it be the best and most flash thing we can provide? I’m no marketer (Di?) but if I want to show the world something I make damn sure it’s the best of the best or as near as I can get it! We’ve been putting up FA’s in this forum for donkies but wouldn’t it be much nicer to have something more like thecrag.com where you can add climbs to the current schedule? Or at least some way to post pictures, new topos, etc?

So really, what WE all need to do is stop bitching and pointing fingers, put this in the feedback forum and actually start working together to produce something to make the world want to come to WA and also to make US proud to be WA climbers…. and also something nicer to look at while we’re at work! 😉

Ross, I hope you do get broadband soon and really give this forum the makeover it desperately needs. Otherwise perhaps you can liase with others here that i’m sure would be happy to help.

And I’ll take this opportunity to send a big shout out to Ben J. 🙂 Hope to catch up some time mate.

    Cheers

    Climb smart, climb safe.

On a side note. I do computer networking/security and web-design in my day to day life. Plus a shitload of graphic design. It’s a passion.

If CAWA are up for a remodel of this site anytime, just let me know and I’m more than willing to offer security, host/storage and all the logistical requirements to make it happen.

Totally free of charge of course in case anyone thought I was plugging.

If got the skill base, so we may as well be resourceful and use it 😉
