Hi all, I put a route up at gooseberry hill quarry a while ago, and ticked it the other day (9th Nov) so thought I’d write it up.

Its called “Shadow of a doubt”, its about 10m long and about grade 24.

Start at the base of the 45 degree overhanging arete, follow it up past 3 bolts to the large V shaped feature, clip the 4th bolt then head up the LEFT edge of the headwall. An alternate finish (and much easier) is to finish up the right edge of the wall.

All bolts are stainless steel U bolts glued in with hilti glue (thanks richard w) and for those that care it is not chipped or altered in any way except where holds have broken off. Is good for hot mornings as its in the shade till about 11am.

Anyway not the worthless choss pile it was once described as, this route is very steep and a lot of fun, have a go and let me know what you think.

      Cheers

Thanks Richard, yeah I think I learnt my lesson about bolting in 38 degree heat, definately worth it in the long run though, really nice route was worth a little heat stroke…

Nice route mate. overhung? bloody thing goes as far horizontally as it does vertically! Makes for nice airy falls! Pumpy for a short one too.
