Hi all. My husband and I (daughter in toe) have just relocated to Bunbury. We are looking at getting into climbing more here as we have done a little down in Vic (Grampians and Arapilies) but are lacking the local knowledge! We are still relatively new however love to top rope and the husband wants to do more lead-climbing. Is there a crew around Bunbury area that get together? We have all our own gear (need to update our daughters helmet)!
      Cheers

Hey Lou! There is Bunbury PCYC for a start (i think Tuesday nights) you may meet some other climbers there, Wellington dam has a quarry with climbs on it you used to be able to get a topo from Mountain Designs in Bunbury and maybe a helmet for your daughter too. If you are heading down my way ( Margaret River ) drop me an e-mail andI can meet up with you guys at one of the crags down here.

The PCYC is open Thursday 7-9, where you’ll get to meet other climbers who also get outdoors. If you can make it there we can provide a heap of info about the local areas, the Quarry is fun but pretty hard going and there are other areas that offer a better range of grades ideal for younger children and also those keen to get into leading. Hope to see you next Thursday!

Thanks! I will see if we are able to get down there to the PCYC Thursday although I’m aware my husband has his induction for a couple of weeks which might put this on hold…we will get there hopefully sooner than later! We did go and scope out the Quarry…we weren’t sure of there were permits needed etc due to some signage there. Starting at PCYC sounds like the best plan an it would be good to meet some people who know the ropes round here.
            Cheers guys.
