Relocating to Port Hedland shortly. I know it is possibly the flattest location on earth, however is anyone aware of any good climbing in the area (beyond the obvious of Eagle Rock @ Newman or Karajini NP). Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    Cheers,

Karratha has some granite sea cliffs… I also have a bouldering wall, but might be a bit far to travel to train.

Flick me an email – hates_@hotmail.com and i can show you the stuff i’ve found and the info i have.

How far is Python Pool from you?
Probably worth the drive for a weekend anyway.
we travelled that way in the late 70s in our, Perth to Sidney, beat up VW van. (With Michelle Freeman – first ascent of Baylac)
Stopped at the pool to camp and did a couple of climbs up the back wall above the pool. great rock and a great place to cool off after. (pick up your firewood before you get to the campsite).
