Hi all
There is a nice little quarry in the forest on the left as you head towards Collie, about three kilometers before the Wellington Dam turnoff. It’s at lat=-33.2657956584, lon=115.963053536
I’ve marked it on GoogleEarth. Granite cliffs are about 8-10m tall, plenty of cracks, good trees up top for anchoring though the brush is a bit thick and so whoever’s first will need to establish beaten paths from anchor to cliff. There is a convenient spur from the western end of the main cliff down to the level area at the base, so abseilers can abseil down and walk up the spur back to the top.

I’ll be away cave diving till the end of April but if anyone wants to camp up there one weekend in May let me know and, if it’s virgin rock, we’ll tidy it up a bit and name a few new routes.
Apparently, the local DEC don’t mind us playing in there and it’s fully open to the public. Last weekend we had two other carloads of locals pull-up, just out for a 4WD. There are old campfires here and there so people are already camping there.
It may even be a popular climbing site – I wouldn’t know, I’ve been away from climbing for too many years, but I need to get back into it now, to brush-up my roping skills for caving.
Cheers
Peter
