Interested to hear peoples thoughts on grading new routes. It seems to me that as a general rule Trad climbs are graded on their Onsite difficulty were as Sport climbs seem to take into account a level of knowledge of the climb ie. Working a route to learn key holds or sequences.

This would most likely stem from first ascents of trad climbs being climbed ground up, opposed to first ascents of sports routes being bolted on abseil and often pre climbed on top-rope first.

So I guess my question is, do others feel the same way and if so, should all climbs ,or should I say future new climbs be continued to be graded thus, or try to give sports routes grades more indicative of their onsite difficulty?
