GuestAm back from the bush this comming weekend and will endeavour to re-bolt Split Personality/Direct. Thanks to Ron for permission.
Emil
Keymasterpack ur wetsuit richard, that wall is a waterfall
Richard
KeymasterYeah Ok – I’m a bit out of touch with the weather up here in the desert!
Mark
KeymasterYour bolting efforts are appreciated Richard… Emil and I had a look at the back wall and BA and LF looked a little damp (That was on Sun before the rain).
Have you had a look at Vader? Probably the best rock on the skywalker wall but the bolts look like they are held in only by the rust. Classic for the grade but I have never dared get on it….
Richard
KeymasterYeah, the skywalker wall is next up. Also want to have a go at cleaning the shot crete of the wall and remove any xtra bolts added by the geo guys. Will re-bolt everything with fixe P’s if I have permission other than U.E which may as well stay as it is now it’s been glued.
Been meaning to have a few abs over the wall to have a look what needs doing but just wanted to finish off the routes we had started.
richard
KeymasterYes I shortened two of the studs left by the shotcrete people. thought to put hangers on them but couldn’t get ones with 12mm bolt holes. Could probably drill out some 10mm ones. Particularly on the top which is like a hedgehog. Some of the shotcrete seems to come off fairly easily. A day with a wire brush would probably do a lot of it.

KeymasterGetting confused with more than one richard going on. Were the bolts that you shortened glued in?
Richard W
KeymasterAnd are you talking about the ones at the top of the crag or on the face itself?
richard
KeymasterThe heavy duty bolts they used to secure the Calm drilling machine. Acually 10mm not 12. There’s one nicely positioned on the apex where climbs diverge. And another further up to the left. Very sound large bolts, probably gluein, probably worth using both of them. There are quite a few on the top as well which would be useful with hangers. Some of the shotcrete comes off if you tap it with a wooden malet or softly with a metal hammer.
Richard W
KeymasterWill try to restore routes to original state (with new bolts of course) and will take out everything else if they were not there on orignal route. Lines should be easily identified – not bolts spread everywhere. Thanks for the info.
richard
Keymasterwell each to his own. I supose we’re all free to take out any bolts we wish. I’ll have a go at getting some of the shotcrete off in Nov.
