      Howdy,

I’m sure everyone has opinions on this, I’m just starting to move outdoors and am looking at what pro to buy, I have a few $$ to play with so was looking at some nuts (BD stopper set 4-13) and hexes (BD wired Hex 4-10) and then some cams, Not sure whether to get BD Camalots (0.5,1,2,3,4) or WC flex friends (1,1.5,2,2.5,3) Could someone give me a bit of insight into what sizes would be most useful in Perth ? ie Churchmans, Strathams etc.. I’m doing the Adventure out Lead course this weekend and have done a few leads at Rockface, I have a rope (60m), 6 Draws, and some bolt plates.

      Cheers

        Roo,

I have set of WC friends,00 to 3. They work in just about all crags in perth. BD and WC cams as good as each other, get what YOU like. I love my friends but just my preference.

Nuts are nuts really but Walnuts seem to have a good rep.

I would definately go for WC hexes on dyneema over BD wire hexes, but again only my opinion.

Best advice is get ALL plates available, PFH RP 45’s and 90’s as the bolts here come in all shapes and sizes! Not all plates fit.

          Thanks Kris,

Any reason you’d prefer the WC hexes on Dyneema (is that webbing ?)?? is it becasue of the wire ?

So with your WC friends thats all the sizes you find you need ?? Chockstone in Melb have a set of 5 WC flex friends 1 – 3 for $575 sounds like a good deal..??

          Thanks for the input..

            Roo,

Use my 00 to 1.5 heaps. 1.75 to 2.5 not as much and rarely my 3.

Yes dyneema is a type of webbing, also called spectra (depends where you are from). I just prefer them over wire ones. Don’t have a qualified reason other than I like them better. I’m sure someone can give you pros and cons of wire vs dyneema/spectra and nylon webbing.

            Good luck
