Driving from Perth to Sydney in early Jan and will have about 2 weeks along the SW coast area of WA. Am planning on 3 days in Margaret River and the majority of the remainder in Albany area.

Any tips on must-do crags/routes or places to camp?

Peak Head in Albany, Porongorups and Stirlings further north, also The Gap and The Blowholes. What do you want to climb? Near Denmark is West Cape Howe and well worth it if weather permits (camp at Shelley Beach prob crowded) Near Walpole is Mt Frankland and is also great, camp nearby, . Peak Charles near Noresman is fantasic with good camping take water. You have a WA Rock Guide?

If your into adventure climbing then take a short detour north from Port Augusta in S.A to Moonarie near Wilpena. Its easily one of the best crags in Oz. Shade in afternoon, good camping, stellar lines. Take a full rack (or two), two ropes and long slings. Dont miss out on The Great Wall! Its worth the drive even to see it.

I’ve got the South Coast guide and will probably spend most of my time around Albany. Got 2x60m ropes and a double rack ready for some of the classic routes, esp. multi pitch and trad lines.

I’ll be with my wife who’s patience for belaying is limited so if anyone is in the Albany area from about Jan4-5 I’ll be keen to hook up for a few climbs up to low 20’s.

Had sort of ruled out Moonarie due to the heat but will check the weather at the time.
