      Hi all,

      Just to let you know today there was a massive car break-in at Churchman’s Brook carpark (Beeloo Close). The glass was smashed on 7 cars that were parked there. Petty theft – all after small change, wallets, ipods, etc. Cars were otherwise untouched. Armadale Police had zero interest in coming out to check the situation. All we can do is file police reports and insurance claims. If you choose to park there to climb, beware – as there is no security. I am going to think twice before heading back there. Idiots caused thousands in damage, for probably not much in return.

        Damn, again, sorry to hear. The area has no shortage of dickheads. I have seen people ride dirt bikes to the crag, down the foot path (this would not have been possible with the old CAWA-built steps so thanks to DEC for this).

        Sat/Sun/school hols it is best to use the bottom approach (see guidebook).

          Sorry to hear that Ally.

          Be careful as the Quarry’s have also had some activity in the last few months. Particularly when there have been Adventure Out type groups there. It seems with so many people in the quarry, you won’t know most of them and in a couple of cases when I was there, the theives walked into the group and opened the car doors (left unlocked) and took wallets and phones and walked away. Noone thought twice as there were so many people around!

          Take care, always lock your car, close the gate behind you and keep an eye open for suspicious activity.

            Ross – thanks for the tip, I didn’t know there was a second car park. What road is that on? We did chase down a couple lads on mountain bikes & ruck sacks on the way out. They were taking photos of the surrounding properties and elizabethan pub car park! They saw me following them and bolted. The police said they will keep an eye out, as they are looking for arsonists in the area. I’ve also reported to the DEC.

            Kate – even in the quarries??? That’s terrible! Thanks for the tip also, I have become lazy and yes – leave my car unlocked with wallet, phone, etc. in the car… as there are lots of climbers and we are “right there”. That’s not nice to hear either. I guess I better change my quarry strategy too :/
