Hi! Could be heading south for a few weeks over xmas and am keen to find out if anyone has put together a miniguide (or has a sketch)for the developed climbing at Waychinicup and surrounds. Also keen to find out about the bouldering thats been going on in this area. Especially around Mt Manypeaks (I saw mention of an Albany bouldering guide? – how far off? Includes these areas?). Is there any issues with the DEC or similar body in these parks? I noted that theres alot of rare species around there.

      Cheers.

Hi logan. There are a few routes up the creek near the waterfall and some natural lines on the short buttress opposite the campsite both accessed boulder hoping round the inlet on tourist track .the boulders are too well spread set in flesh tearing bush not worth the effort and as you have mentioned it is a sensitive area and worthy of respect.the best bang for your buck bouldering wise in the area is cheynnes beach .100m before the road terminates in the very cnr of cheynnes is a very obvious right turn out for fisherman .3 sectors right in front 100m to the left on large block close to water and 150m right on wall set back from ocean.the other good area is Bettys beach 50m off southern end of beach are a dozen problems on great stone.these and more in guide.soon..

Well…the chunk of granite about 2km ESE on the coast looks impressive on Google Earth. I’ll be checking that out at Christmas.

There is in fact the potential for plenty of issues if this area if not treated with care.

Email me on:[email protected] to discuss and for info

please reframe from discussing on this forum, as DEC….can read to!!.

Given recent-ish goings on with this area, I suggest the following:

1)If you don’t know exactly where to go and exactly where you are going. Stay away and don’t go stomping around. This is bound to upset people we really do not want to upset.

2)If you ignore 1) above, and find something, keep your trap shut. If you have concerns / comments email George above. He is a good focal point for info. Whatever you do, don’t go blabbing on the internet.

3)Those that know where to go – please keep being uber sensitive to the concerns of the area as we don’t want anything stuffed up.
