This is from a post earlier this year…

The Water Corporation will start upgrade works on Wellington Dam, located in Wellington National Park, within the next six months.

From January 2008 there will be temporary closures of all areas below the Wellington Dam kiosk including the quarry area, car parks and the road accessing the dam wall. During this period the lookout will also be upgraded, however pedestrian access will remain open.

From April 2008 the area surrounding the quarry will be closed to the public. Parking will be available near the kiosk and pedestrian access for the public to view the dam wall works, via paths from the kiosk to the lookout, will remain open. These works are expected to extend to 2010.

The quarry will be closed to all activities including abseiling, weddings and picnics from January 2008 to June 2010. DEC and the Water Corporation apologise for any inconvenience that may be caused by the upgrades.

For further information please contact or John Waters at the Water Corporation on (08) 9420 3014 or the DEC Wellington office, in Collie, on (08) 9734 1988.
