Hey all, me names Al, and i’m from Vic. Very very keen to head across that way for a while next year, probably for about a month (all of march). Climb up to 26/27, boulder up to V8, but really keen to just chill out with cool people for the month and climb. where is my best place to acheive this desired lifestyle? a place that keeps cropping up in my mind is margaret river. i’ll be heading over solo, so whats accomodation like? i’m happy to sleep in the back of my car if need be, or a very cheap roof over my head would be good.

maybe perth is the better place to hook up with climbers, such as at the gyms. keen to crank some new rock too.

      cheers, al

Gracetown caravan park is mint! close to gracetown crag, whaleback bouldering (Bloody wicked spot), Willyabrup is also close and if you like surfing it is all around you. It is 10 min from MR and there are climbing / bouldering spots all over the show!

            *bump*

i’ll be spending about 6 weeks in margaret river, probably staying at gracetown camping area – it seems the go. boulders close by when i don’t have a partner to climb with.

I’ll be up in perth early march, so whats the best gym to get to for a rad sesh, and maybe ask around for what sort of local scene (if any) down in margaret river?

also, is there any other guides for the bouldering down around that region, other then the whaleback guide on this site. that area looks RAD! my mission is to climb all the problems. but i wanna hit bobs hollow too, and wallcliff. whats the concensus grade on delving deltoids since the broken hold?

sorry, this seems to be bordering on a partner search! but anyone whos up for a climb from the start of march till mid april, i’ll be waiting. and i can give you a lift to gramps for the easter pilgrimage too! c’mon, ya know ya wants in!

            al.

ps, i’ll leave another message down the road too with me number, but for now, have fun out on the rock!

I’m another from over east who will be swinging into WA in a couple of months. I’m looking to begin up in the kimberely and drive south as things get wet.

              Any hints or tips?

                Hi Duanne,

There’s a lot of rock in the Kimberleys, mostly not on public land unfortunately. Some is loose stacked bricks, some is solid granite, some is red sandstone, some is old coral reefs up to 80 metres high. No guides that I know of and nothing I have done has been written up and there is no guarantee you could access it anyway. Good luck, ask around, have fun. Sawtooth range out from Hall’s Creek is public. The granite faces at the Argyle Diamond Mine access corner are public.

                Regards,

                Toc.
