The Perfect Climbing Destination

Albany and its surroundings offer a wide range of climbing opportunities for sports and trad climbers of all levels. Whether you’re a beginner looking for a new challenge or an experienced climber seeking excitement, Albany has it all. Here are some of the fantastic climbing spots you can explore:

West Cape Howe

West Cape Howe, the closest crag to the campsite, offers breathtaking vistas and challenging routes. It’s the perfect place to kick off your climbing adventure during our EOY trip.

Peak Head

For those seeking a bit of variety, Peak Head offers an exhilarating climbing experience. With its unique rock formations, you’re in for a treat.

The Gap

True to its name, The Gap provides thrilling climbing opportunities that will leave you in awe of nature’s beauty. Don’t miss out on this fantastic spot. Please be aware that some crags are closed during public holidays.

Monkey Rock

If you’re up for a challenge or wanna have an easy day, Monkey Rock is the place to be.

Peaceful Bay

For a more tranquil climbing experience, head to Peaceful Bay. One of the newly developed crags with single-pitch sport and trad options. It’s the ideal spot to unwind and enjoy the serene beauty of the surroundings. 4WD requiered.

Mt Lindsay and Porrongurups

These majestic peaks of Porrongurups offer climbing adventures that will take your breath away. Explore the diverse routes and enjoy the stunning views from the top. Mt Lindesay is home to probably the best sport 22 in the state; what do you think?

Camping in Nature’s Embrace

During our EOY trip, we’ll be camping on private property close to West Cape Howe. This secluded campsite is perfect for those who appreciate the beauty of nature and want to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Suitable for tent and rooftop tent camping.
  • Amenities include a drop toilet and a shower with solar-heated water.
  • The exact address will be provided individually.
  • Camping fee: $10 per person per night.
  • Maximum capacity: 20 people per night.

Safety First

At CAWA, safety is our top priority. All participants must adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Independent climbers are responsible for themselves.
  • All participants must sign a Deed of Release and Indemnity (if not done previously), book the camping and complete the participants’ info form below.
  • Inexperienced climbers must partner with an experienced climber.
  • Climbers under 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or a responsible adult.
  • If you’re new to climbing, be sure to check out CAWA Trips for additional information and reach out to us via email. Albany is not the best for climbers new to the outdoors.
