Day 1 involves a comprehensive workshop from 9 AM to 5 PM, focusing on fundamental multi-pitch techniques and rope skills at Monkey Rock. This particular crag, with its shorter routes and “mini multi-pitch” options, provides an ideal setting for learning within a controlled environment. Participants will hone their ability to adapt new skills to their existing single-pitch repertoire. Topics covered during this workshop include:
On day 2, you will have the opportunity to put these newly acquired skills into action alongside more experienced climbers at either Angwin Peak or Gibraltar Rock in the Porongurups.
We would like to thank CAWA for organising the Sport Multi-Pitch climbing workshop in November. It was a very informative couple of days with hands-on learning. Being able to practise anchor building and multi-pitch belaying on the ground as we were being taught these new skills gave us the confidence to master these skills before putting them to use on the rocks. The guidance provided by our instructor was very clear and easy to follow. In addition, having other experienced CAWA members around us to patiently give us a hand when we needed extra help was amazing. The highlight of the workshop was being able to put our new skills to use the next day in Gibraltar Rock with very close supervision by our instructor and CAWA members. Once again, a huge thank you for organising this workshop, and we look forward to more in the future.
