The trip is an opportunity to meet new people, check routes you didn’t know about, spend time with like-minded people, learn new tricks or pass on your own knowledge.
We will be spoiled for choice as there is so much climbing on Southern Butters at Mt Trio, which is home to the hardest route (15) at the time (1970), at Toolbrunup, Talyuberlup, Barnett Peak (if you are a solid bushwalker) and of course on Bluff Knoll.
To get more psyched, flick through the old Guide book (1995), where you probably find the most info, have a look at theCrag, our miniguides and as well search the forum. Heaps of info can be found there.
We will be camping at Mt Trio Bushcamp & Caravan Park, which has all facilities required and has magnificent views. Moreover, it’s close to all crags. Please scroll through their website if you haven’t been there yet. We won’t have a booking but will do our best to secure a spot where we can all camp together. You’ll be required to pay ($16 per night) on arrival.
All participants must be ‘self-sufficient’, able to trad lead and belay and be completely responsible for themselves. Following our Public Liability insurance requirements, everyone will need to sign a Deed of Release and Indemnity and fill in a trip registration form.
Any inexperienced climbers must nominate an experienced climber who will climb with them during the trip. All climbing participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or another responsible person. If you are a beginner, it might pay to read CAWA Trips for some further information or e-mail me.
Please note that CAWA trips are a benefit for members. Non-members interested in coming with you will need to join online and follow up the registration for the trip beforehand.
