Rob Wall showed me a different part of the ‘reach’ from the standard traversing area that I had been on
downstream from the main area at the last lookout before the beach carpark (there is an obvious small pillar), downclimb to the L (downstream) then follow the mega traverse lip jughaul upstream, deep water underneath its possible to go about 20m upside down, untold variations, pumpy and really good
It’s a traverse . . . start somewhere, traverse along, traverse back. Not really any established problems except for the classic V8 ‘avoid having car broken into’.
Sometimes the difficulty of that problem is raised to about V-impossible . . . .
The best way to get to Blackwall is to paddle across, also a good warm-up! 🙂
sorry john dont think i have much thats new to add, i’m sure loads of folks have bouldered at this ‘sector’ before, but it was new for me and some others who have been going to blackwall reach for years,
roofs that make kachoong look like a limp dishrag …
