    Local climbers are working with Shane Richardson to develop an updated guide for the southwest, as a Climb West publication. Pending investigations into access (that CAWA is assisting with) this guide will include Welly Dam, Castle Rock, Smiths Beach, Moses Rocks, Wilyabrup, Walcliffe, Gracetown, Bob’s Hollow and Cosy Corner. All going well we hope to have this completed by the end of 2015.

    We are keen to get any information you may have on new routes, errors in existing guidebooks and/or local history/stories/issues. I have gone through all of the first ascent threads on CAWA forum to collect recorded new route info so there is no need to repeat anything from there.

    We are also interested in receiving images. We aim to use a range of images showing: climbers making ‘the move’; climbers position on crag that give an idea of the exposure/line; and climbers on crags with backgrounds that give an idea of the setting/atmosphere. Please proved only high resolution images for which you know the climber’s name and route.

    Please send information directly to me at ‘kermit at iinet dot net dot au’.

    Will we be able to download the new guide from the cawa website?
    Is this a private commercial venture?

    The proposal is to publish a hard copy book, not a mini-guide and we will be aiming to cover costs only.

    I may have some pics from down that way and some info on a few easy boulder problems in Augusta.

    let us know

    Make sure you use a good printer, the current guide books falls apart after five min.

    Cheers

    Cheers Haydn we are certainly looking carefully into binding options to make sure the guide is durable, one option being wrio binding. We will not be including bouldering problems but will make mention of know bouldering areas and where there are mini-guides or similar available making reference to them.

    The majority of the text work has been completed including topo artwork, so this is the last call for any additional information anyone wishes to provide. This may include errors in previous guide books, new routes not listed on the CAWA forums, historical knowledge and/or images – if anyone has images from the pioneering days to accompany the history section that would be great.
