CAWA President elected for 2011

Hi everybody,

My name is Tony Brebner your new CAWA president for 2011. I am honoured to have been elected to this position and along with the committee, we will put our best efforts into delivering on our obligations and objectives as prescribed in the constitution. I’d also like to recognise, with thanks, the incredible effort of the outgoing committee and past President – Dena Rao.

We move again into another year where there has been a significant increase in the numbers of people climbing in WA.  Although we don’t boast of having Half Dome in our back garden or the Grande Jorasses down the road, we have some unique sites and locations in Western Australia where we can climb without congestion or traffic, and many times, almost alone in the great outdoors. Our environment is precious and I encourage you to respect the land by leaving it the way nature provides it.

As the committee for 2011, we will continue to provide our best service to our membership. You will see there have been new updates to the CAWA web site at https://www.climberswa.asn.au/. Our committee has been busy scheduling climbing events https://www.climberswa.asn.au/events/ for the year and we are looking for what YOU want to have that’s different this year….

We’ve had our first Gym Crash on Tuesday 17 May at Adventure Out which was well supported. Our next upcoming event is the Foundation Day long weekend trip to Kalbarri – more details and information will be posted on the website in due course.  Head off north, it’s going to be cold down here !!

Please don’t hesitate to contact myself or any of the committee members if you have questions or comments. We have volunteered our time to the Climbers’ Association of Western Australia and encourage your comment and new memberships, especially of our younger climbers.

Most of all, be safe out there guys and remember, always check your partner!
