Trip Coordinator – Tony Brebner, tonyb@climberswa.asn.au, Mob 0416186510

Many of you know Willyabrup well. It’s one of Western Australia’s premier climbing venues with many, many routes at a variety of grades. It’s set on the magnificent Margaret River sea cliffs with views across the Indian Ocean and tremendous atmospheric climbing… The majority of climbs are sports routes with trad and even some beginner trad routes to get started on. No doubt there will be some top-rope routes set up for those who enjoy a stress free climb and want to stop to admire the view… It’s a good place for beginners and generally on CAWA trips there will be enough people around to leave top-ropes set up.

We have booked a “CAWA Group Site” for CAWA attendees at the Gracetown Caravan Park (http://www.gracetowncaravanpark.com.au/). It’s a very nice camp site, has great facilities and even has an outdoor movie night on Sat’s in season. It’s also a family camp site, so your consideration is requested after 9:30pm. The unpowered group site is $17pp per night, and we have booked the site for the nites of Friday 24th, Sat 25th and Sun 26th. Please make your payments directly with reception on Friday night or Sat morning when you arrive – Ask for the CAWA Group site – Thanks.

Directions to Willy’s can be found here https://www.climberswa.asn.au/climb/online-guide/south-west/wilyabrup/ and the Gracetown Caravan Park is on the corner of Caves Road and Cowamarup Bay Road. If you need, there will be people to guide you to the crag on Sat morning from the camp site anyway. All the routes are well documented in the Margaret River Rock, guide book which can be purchased at any of the outdoor and climbing stores or climbing gyms.

So bring your own gear & you will need to bring your own food etc, but there are many towns/shops/pubs nearby.

Of course you can’t wait !!!! REGISTER NOW by emailing me back and let me know about your attendance so we can collate numbers and details re car pooling to share with others who are coming :

· How many in your party intend to come along to the Willy’s Trip ? :

Please note that CAWA trips are a benefit for members. Non-members who are interested in coming with you can join online now (easiest) or on the first day of the trip.

All participants need to be ‘independent participants’. This means you are responsible for your own safety. Due to legal and liability issues, CAWA does not provide training. If you are an inexperienced climber then have a chat to some of the more experienced people you know and see if they are planning to attend. However, as already mentioned, Willyabrup is a good beginner’s crag, with some speccy *** routes to lead. There will be top-rope opportunities and plenty of people to give you a go. And unsolicited advice, of course!

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions: tonyb@climberswa.asn.au
