Eaglestone Rocks – Friday 2nd to Sunday 4th September 2011 – CAWA

Eaglestone Rocks – Friday 2nd to Sunday 4th September 2011

The next CAWA climbing trip is to Eaglestone Rocks. It’s coming up at the beginning of September – Friday 2nd to Sunday 4th (Please note this is the new date as our old date clashed with the City to Surf Fun Run and we’d had a few requests to reschedule).   So make sure your diaries are clear, as we expect a great weekend of climbing.

At the end of July I’ll be sending out an email to current CAWA members regarding interest, some trip details and the Participation Registration Form for completion and return.  As a teaser, Eaglestone Rocks is only 3hrs east of Perth so is an easy weekend trip.  It’s got some world-class bolted routes and the loneliest rubbish bin you’ve ever seen.  There, if that doesn’t get you off the couch and into a car for this trip, I don’t know what will.

Eaglestone Rock is a great beginners crag in that it has a good range of grades and offers both bolted and trad routes.  There are belay anchors at the top of most routes which allows for easy setup of top-ropes.  It is a good spot if you’re looking for your first outdoor climbing experience plus you’ll have the added bonus of a weekend out of the city, some camping and feeling justified in scoffing Chicken Treat chips on the way home.  Having said that, climbers will need to be “independent” because CAWA is unable to provide training or supervision.  More information about this side of things can be found here .

If you haven’t registered as a CAWA member for the new year, (starts 1 July 2011), and wish to attend this and other CAWA events during the year, you can easily join online from this website.  Otherwise contact us, the CAWA Committee on cawa@climberswa.asn.au

We are looking to make this and future events interesting, fun and full of climbing.

Stay tuned.
