The trip is an opportunity to meet new people, check routes you didn’t know about, spend time with likeminded people, learn new trick or pass on your own knowledge.
We will be spoiled for choice as there is so much climbing on Southern Butters at Mt Trio, which is home to the hardest route (15) at the time (1970), at Toolbrunup, Talyuberlup, Barnett Peak (if you are solid bushwalker) and of course on Bluff Knoll.
To get more psyched, flick through the old Guide book (1995), where you probably find the most info, have a look at theCrag, our miniguides and as well search the forum. Heaps of info can be found there.
We will be camping at Stirling Range Retreat, which has all facilities required. You’ll need to bring just a tent/swag or whatever you need for the night. We have secured a few unpowered sites at $16 per night. Once you vetted in, we’ll send you a link for the payment.
This event is only for adequately experienced trad leaders & seconders. It’s best if you can find a climbing buddy. It is not a requirement though; we’ll do our best to pair you up.
If you are an inexperienced trad climber, this trip most likely won’t be suitable for you. If you are unsure, flick me an email with your experience, and we’ll see what we can do.
For risk management and safety reasons, all proposed participants will be vetted for trad experience by the CAWA Committee.
To get more people on the Trad Train and later on the trips, CAWA will organise more trad workshops later this year. All subject to Public Liability insurance we are currently applying for. Fingers crossed it won’t take much longer.
Please note that CAWA trips are a benefit for members. Non-members interested in coming with you can join online.
All participants have to be ‘self-sufficient’, able to trad lead and belay and be responsible for their own safety. Due to legal and liability issues, CAWA does not provide training during the event.
Please get in touch if you have any tips, ideas, questions or suggestions. All of it is welcomed and appreciated.
