The Hangout: under new management

Well, there must be something in the air. Yet another indoor climbing facility has experienced a takeover.

Gareth and Tracy Wall will be the proud new owners of The Hangout from Monday 1 November 2010 and have big plans to improve the gym to benefit WA’s climbing community. Below, some words from the new management:

 
Probably one of the first changes that people will notice is that we will be changing to GRIGRIS. We expect to have this done before our first day starts. We know that any decisions regarding belay devices are always going to be a little controversial, but believe that they are the safest option for new climbers.

We also want to look after all of our not so new climbers :). So we will be putting up lots of new routes and problems for top-ropers, leaders and boulderers alike. We have some exciting plans on the horizon for the gym. Some we will implement over the coming months, others will take a bit longer. So stay tuned!

We value CAWA and the contributions its members make to climbing in Western Australia and we want to show our support by making every day in November a ‘CAWA Tuesday’. All CAWA members can climb for $7 during November. Just show us your current CAWA card on arrival. After November we will of course maintain the current CAWA discount rates of $9.50 at anytime and $7 Tuesdays. We have big plans for developing a large pro shop and we will give all CAWA members a 12.5% discount on all items (excluding sale items). If anyone is looking for anything in particular they just need to let us know as we can get a lot of items in within 24 hours.
