    Jamie:

At the CAWA AGM our access officer (Greg) proposed a working day to clean up the wall. He advised that the works are complete and the final clean up needs to be done by climbers.

Are you interested in helping out? If so keep watching the western climber.

    Hi crowd,

I’m just lunch time surfing in my office in Muscat, Oman. Some comments on the Skywalker Wall.

I don’t know how many of you have actually seen up close (like from 1m) what the Skywalker Wall looks like but in my opinion a high-pressure water hose is required to blast the shotcrete film off it. This may have obvious safety implications. Trying to hand clean mess this will take a very long time. Also: how will you remove the huge bolt studs that were used during the works? Angle grinder work while hanging from ropes? So be careful & have a good look first.

The polluted climbs that are “easy” to clean are: Power Play (top), my climb R of Power Play and Crazy Horse and maybe the whatsitsname name extension to Sylvia. The Skywalker face itself between Urban Ethics and Vader looked hopeless when I abseiled over it.

Also, while doing the work bee, some kind of belay ledge could be built at the bottom of The Force (justing using wood planks like for Churchmans steps). Now that the rusty piton was replaced by 2 carrots this is a cracking climb (and clean too).

Murdering the ants at the top with Antex would also do.

Congratulations on new Committee and all the best!
