      Hi there fellow climbers.

My husband and I currently live in the NT but in a little over 4 weeks we will be packing our lives into a campervan and will be ‘climbing Australia’ for 6 months. We start in WA so I am calling for all experienced WA knowledge…

      where to go,

      where not to go

      a MUST CLIMB

      a DON’T BOTHER

      where to camp

      where to shop

which gym to use when the weather ain’t climbable

where to spend new years (just thought I would throw that one in)

      and

who would like to hook up and show us around WA??

So far we know that Kalbarri, Margaret River and Albany are MUST SEE’s but just wondering if anyone has anything they would like to share about their home town/fav crag.

I appreciate anything, anyone has to offer…

      Cheers,

      Nina-Jay aka lil wombat

West Cape Howe near Albany is a must do, and CAWA have a trip there each year over New Years.

So i’d suggest that you go to West Cape Howe for New Year and catch up with the CAWA lot in a great climbing location.

          Dear Lil Wombat

There is one guidebook that cover all of WA – that’s the good news.See:

          http://www.climbwest.com.au/guidebooks.html

The bad news is that it often is not very accurate but it is fine to use at Kalbarri, Willys and Albany (not so for Gibraltar rock and Peak Charles – see miniguide on this web site) If yer spending much time in Perth then the CAWA Perth Guide is rather fabulous. WA destinations I like: Kalbarri (sport sandstone), Churchman’s in Perth (trad dolerite), Willyabrup at Marg River (sport/trad granite), Bob’s Hollow at Marg River (the best limestone crag in the world), Albany region (trad/sport granite), Peak Charles north of Esperance(trad granite).

          Have a nice trip.

Thanks guys you’ve been very helpful.

Can’t wait to get there. Look out for a couple of bumbly sport/trad climbers in a yellow camper!

            Cheers,

            Nina & Carwyn
