just spent a few days in kalbarri. Anyone know what the deal is with all the bolts top of the tourist wall?. Pretty ugly with all the bolts with no hangars/chains and useless too. was it a bolt and then ethics chopping situation?
years ago it was said the abseilers had designs on the wall and were putting in bolts. Don’t think they’ve used it yet. not the sort of wall that would attract sports climbing bolters.
As far as I know, it was a commercial abseiler company that didn’t want scum like us climbers using the anchors, so just studs where put in. When they use them, they bring along nuts and plates.
