Grant Edwards is your man, I’m sure someone will soon reply to this with his phone number. There is/was talk from Grant about packing it in, I’d be interested in taking over for him if he’d teach me, keep meaning to talk to him about that.

    Hi Mark,

As John says, you want to speak to Grant Edwards on 9447 3670 and he lives at 23 Kitchener St, North Beach 6020.

We had a long discussion before Christmas about him staying in business, as he doesn’t make big dollars out of it and he wasn’t sure whether WA people cared about having a local resoler. He’s just repaired 3 pairs of my shoes, and I have now got basically three as new pairs of shoes for less than the cost of one new pair. He uses good rubber and you can talk to him about your shoes for the cost of a local call and he can give you advice on them which is worth listening to. If I sound like I’m booming him up, well I like having a local guy and he does excellent work. My old Scarpa’s are on their third resole, and it’s only because I wore them out. None of them have ever come apart. Grant’s work is guaranteed anyway. By the way, I’ve had new shoes start to delaminate.

Just a hint, Grant does this part-time. Give him time to do the job properly. Each stage of the process needs time to cure if you’re going to get a good job. If you’ve only got one pair of shoes, let him know and he’ll do his best, but be realistic and certainly don’t expect them overnight. It can’t be done and it wouldn’t be fair on him anyway.

    Hope that helps,

    Cheers,

    Toc.

over the years i’ve had Grant resole several pairs of shoes and he has done an excellent job every time. It would be a great loss to the WA community if Grant closed shop…

As i said his work is excellent and he has even advised me when he thought a toe patch i wanted put on wouldnt hold..

i went ahead with the job anyway and a lot of climbing later its still good..

and as Toc says getting a pair of shoes resoled is a hell of a lotcheaper then a new pair of shoes….and you get new rubber with the comfort of your old shoes..(you dont have to go through the hassles of breaking in a new pair of shoes)
