Tony Brebner – CAWA President, stepping down..

Due to unexpected circumstances, I will be delegating the running of CAWA to Vice President, Kate Swain, for the remainder of the CAWA year. This will be effective from 13 November 2012.

I had previously advised you all that I would be stepping down from the President’s role at the end of this term, at the AGM in Feb 2013, and therefore will step down a little sooner than anticipated.

However I look forward to being at the AGM to present the President’s report for 2012 and to join and participate as an Ordinary Committee member next year when circumstances permit.

I am grateful to have been given the opportunity lead CAWA over the last 20 months and have been honoured to serve as President. I have enjoyed the challenge immensely, and the reward has been in the huge number of amazing friends I have made. Thank you all.

CAWA continues to grow in membership, expertise and relevance in the Australian rock climbing scene.

More importantly to me is the “family” of climbers that we all belong to here in Western Australia. We all know each other, we know who’s doing what, we are encouraged by each other and we join in and participate. We continue to support and help our climbers in a way that transcends other sports.

So while my hardest route to knock off is still ahead of me, I am happy that CAWA is in a great place, supported by a great Committee with an outstanding membership of climbers.

I ask you to support Kate and to continue to participate, share your experience and enthusiasm to keep CAWA the great association it is.

Tony Brebner
CAWA President
